While Sobremesa literally means "over the table," the more meaningful translation is a bit longer-winded. It's that time spent after a meal, hanging out with family or friends, chatting and enjoying each other's company. It can be applied to either lunch or dinner, and often includes family members, but also friends — and it can even include a business lunch.
A bit of history
Since the arrival of European, African and Asian immigrants centuries ago, their food culture and ingredients have merged with those of the local indigenous to create the evolving cuisine of Latin America. Sobremesa will take you on a journey through the vibrant and colourful dishes of South America, a cuisine that can be described as a melting pot of South American cultural diversity.
Sobremesa is the creation of Malcolm Emmanueil. Son of a British-Brazilian marriage, Chef Malcolm combines Guarani heritage from his native grandparents with Mediterranean influence from his father. In cooking his signature dishes for you, he calls upon his 25 years of experience to deliver you an outstanding dining experience.
